Re: Leeds Utd v Cardiff City Match Thread
We are a much better team when we play with purpose.
Possession with purpose as its called.
Our average possession was down on our average but passes in the opposition half was up.
Was very pleased with the bravery and positive play today.
Makes such a difference

About when I stopped on a regular basisandrewjohnsmith wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2025 8:35 pm 80th season!
That's some achievement. I started around 1979and didn't start going to games until 10 years later.

The 15th time #LUFC have scored 7 or more in a competitive game, 10th time in the League.
7th time Leeds have won 7-0, 5th time in the League.
Seven in my lifetime. I attended five of those matches.
Chelsea
CA Spora (twice)
Lyn Oslo (twice) may have been 0-6 away, 10-0 at ER?

Re: Leeds Utd v Cardiff City Match Thread
Cardiff attempted to play the same style as us, however left themselves vulnerable to our counter-attacks as they totally lacked the quality of Leeds. A wide open game that played straight into our hands.Cjay wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2025 9:05 pm We are a much better team when we play with purpose.

I wish all teams came to ER to win the game.

He was so quick to progressively cycle the ball forward as opposed to send it backwards to Mes, etc.

Worth noting that our first goal came as we broke after Cardiff had a dangerous attack.andrewjohnsmith wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2025 8:06 pm All good runs end somewhere. Especially when you come up against a really good team.
The fact that Cardiff were on a good run might have worked against them today and maybe they came into the game with a bit too much confidence. All to our benefit.

I love that ball out that splits two Cardiff players and finds Piroe. Created all the space and launch pad for the first. There was also a nice defensive header from Firpo in there despite the Cardiff player backing in

My thought is how someone can look at that display and still think a new striker and a ten are necessities in this window.ElKapitan wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2025 8:15 pm Fantastic performance in all regards and credit where credits very much due..... Farke made some really good tweaks. Did anyone else notice Piroes massive change in positioning today? Coming deep to get on the ball then turning and passing to the overlapping runners? Must have had more passes today than in his last 5. Brilliant adaptation that. Best game this season so far and reminded me of a similar type of thing that we had last season with Rutter.
Enough of one player though what really impressed me what the side before self kick started by James..... Could of took that shot on and no one would have moaned, instead played the certain goal pass for Aaronsson and it carried on from there.
My only gripe would be that Kinnear can say look at this scoreline why do we need to add a 10 or a striker..... (Which I think could hurt us in event of injuries to piroe or aaronsson).
Massively happy though, faultless game from the lads. Mot.
I understand your concern about where we would be if Piroe and/or Aaronson have to miss any time, but Largie, Willie, and Matty looked pretty good today as replacements. The starting front four were outstanding, but there wasn't much of a dropoff when three of them were subbed off.
