If we weren't creating chances, I'd be more worried. Eventually we have to get a break and get a result or two.

Keep ya fingers crossed we don't fck up at the back in these upcoming because that's what it's gonna boil down to.

We're gonna have to hope Jesse's hectic style is gonna save us coz we can't hope to play someone off the park.

We could say tough defeat tonight which is how i feel, but i have zero confidence when oppo's attack.

I don't think a kneejerk reaction is needed calling for Jesses head, but it's all on these next few games now and a gamble, if we get some wins and rapid we should be ok, but if we don't, i think we're fcked.

Fingers and toes crossed time again, i had no doubts whatsoever we'd stay up last year with Bert if he got his players back, i don't feel the same with Jesse but feel we've got to stick it out with him.

Tough call, and still on a tightrope.

My Richter scale - 2.25
 agreed

So tired of people saying we deserved something out of games we lose or we deserved to win, if the defense isn't good enough you deserve nothing. We are a running joke at the back. It's god damn pathetic to ship goals the way we do. Don't know the stats but surely alot of the goals we concede must start from are left. Raging another weekend ruined hate playing on a friday

Well that's the gamble.

This run of fixtures is quite easy, would a new manager need 5 games and then it's a tough run again?

Fine line Dave.

Kennyb41 wrote: Fri Jan 13, 2023 10:36 pm You cannot just blame the defenders for what is happening, they are collectively being thrown under the bus by the way Jesse is wanting the team to play, he is basically gambling we'll score, and when we don't then they uncannily (Paul) do and that's because of the gaping holes on the counter and the backtracking .

Yes, we are fuming about our not finding the back of the net on 3 occasions, but yet again Villa could've also had more.

His gameplan is a gamble that's not paying off atm, and all the other teams around us will be planning to hit us on the break.
Just can’t deal with getting done on your own corner. That is football madness. If you have a lack of pace to get back then don’t commit so many. It’s a terrible gamble. Like you don’t know your own players
I declare my love for Saint Daniel and I can shoehorn him in to any conversation.

We haven't had good defenders since Jansson and Bartley, but then Monk was a defensive manager. I keep saying, but we don't have the resources to sign top defenders and play expansive football. We can only focus on one of the other. Since we can't take our chances, I'd prefer us to be defensive

Exactly - Llorente, Koch, Struijk, Firpo and probably Kristensen. All duds or at best the jury is out signings. This is the major reason why we have a totally inept defence.

That always happens with us though. Should be 1-0 up then they break away and score.

Bring in someone who can get us points for the next 5 games and we’re safe, Marsch has run out of philosophy.

You can see it on his face when we go behind. Mr Positivity has left the building, what vibes are the players getting?

Obviously we deserved at least a point tonight but I am not even sure that Struijk should be in the squad....so poor its embarrassing and as for Aarranson, we are deluding ourselves...he is just not prem class, too lightweight and ineffective....we are just not in the position to play with 9 men !!

Think he might go Ayling Cooper Wober Firpo. If Firpo gets the runaround then move Wober to LB and bring Koch on. Firpo is a specialist LB after all and Wober is a CB
I’d go with that back 4 starting. We have to pray that Wober is the player we hope he is or the options are really limited.

He has. I’m not going in for giving him a kicking tonight though. Sometimes you get roasted.
He’s done his best. I think he’ll change it next game.
Always liked the look of Hjelde but he’s gone on loan now

Also, I am not anti Marsch but his record before joining a Premier league club was at the very best....average, and not surprisingly his record since joining us has been at the very best...below average......so no surprises there.

Irish Ian wrote: Fri Jan 13, 2023 10:24 pm I don't think our defenders are awful.
Our defence is collectively because of the way they are being drilled.

Funny thing is we knew this even before he arrived.
The voice, or words, of sanity. It is the same story every week where people blame the defenders but they are getting pulled all around trying to cover gaps when teams flood forward against us. They end up not knowing whether to mark their man, try to cover some other player, hold a position etc and end up simply being too exposed. Note as well for the second goal nobody picking up a lad running through midfield - a common re-occurence.

I thought Cooper had a decent game, Ayling too. Koch not great and Sturyjk looked confused positionally and isolating him 1v1 v Bailey was poor management.
