Perspective really is what’s needed here, that’s for sure. We are all clamouring for these kids of ours to save the club. Why? Because the first teamers Orta and co. assembled were nothing like good enough. Therefore we look to what’s left on the playing roster as salvation.
Normal clubs select only the very, very best of their youth and introduce them to the first team gradually, nurtured alongside seasoned pros. And over a period of time.
The way Leeds are doing it is all wrong and destined for failure. We will end up spoiling our youth players by throwing them into the team and inevitably under the bus.
We desperately need a cohort of seasoned pros, with championship experience, to bring our kids on. And not expect promotion first time of asking either.
Yeah the genius knew all of this coz he had first hand experience of dealing with Ortas shite, his expert eye got shut of total garbage and kept a few that might've showed some promise, he knew that none of them could yet make any sort of step up so had to persist with the hand he'd been dealt by our clown dealer, that's when he HAD to try and work with the TR's of this world whilst knowing he wasn't his preferred choice either.
But a lot here actually know better than the genius ex international Argentine player.
Bless them all.

I think we all need to chill out a bit.
We're way behind the rest in terms of organization and planning thanks to owner/rich and ignorant people shenanigans over the past months.
We have a new manager trying to figure out what he does and doesn't have. We have players who don't know the lie of the land - personally or as a squad.
It not ideal, but it is what it is. It can only improve.
I'm just pleased to see them out playing football.
You see what we've got now is worse than back to sq 1
DF now has the envious task of wallowing through the endless utter shite to try and see what he can polish, he could end up having to raise his own cash like the expert did and find a use for players like Costa etc, best of luck with that pal.
But yeah it's only the first pre game friendly of our exciting new era and our upcoming glorious next 5 years where we win the Championship at a canter and rock up to the first Lpool game in the Prem and get Klopp going 'WOW'
And i for one can't wait
Good old Leeds and their fans selflessly fcking themselves up for decades more.

Cautiously optimistic with what I saw. Felt we did well first half with what was on paper a weaker side than we put out in the second half and also playing against a stronger Man U XI. The fact we conceded twice against the 'Man U' kids is probably not as black and white as it first could appear - your older first team players will have come off a longer break and hard seasons whereas the kids are probbaly more naturally fit and won't have played 40+ games last season at tough levels, as such probably both our kids and their kids would be sharper than the 'senior pros.'
Some good individual performances, some good link ups at time and also times where we looked disjointed, which was to be expected given that we had a mix of first team and youth team players or players who had come back after being out on loan. I think I saw enough to think we could be a decent side if we make a couple of decent signings. Keeper is probably a must although Klaesen did okay. A rightsided centreback likely a must even if just competition for Cresswell. Cooper had a decent game, and am happy with him as the left centreback - would be interesting to see how him and Moore would do together. Ayling and Drameh will be fine at right back. Gyabi looked good, grew into the game well and would have liked to have seen him play the full match, I think he could shine at championship level especially if we get a decent midfielder next to him. Rutter, James and Sinisterra all showed they can be a handful. Archie Gray showed some good flashes as did Lewis Bate and Gelhardt.
So for a first friendly I saw plenty of positives and I'm sure Farke did too. Yes some areas of concern but that is what friendlies are about, find out your weaknesses and address them before the season starts.

I've pretended to support a team that's been crap for most of my life as part of a long term plan

We could do with buying a load of new posters and sell off the negative haters.... But they're probably not worth much.. What were the mods and admin thinking,
Negative ? I post as i see it and i see 'it' a helluva lot sooner than most.

I always told you he was buying shite, you always insisted on finding ANY sort of twinkle in the dross and in him, i was offended by your glass half full comments on the clown and his buys, and you probably don't like my honest opinion on the dross.
I will still continue to post my honest thoughts, i do not wear rose tinted.

I know it was only a friendly but we are still plagued with old habits of being exposed at the back, difficulty with keeping possession and no clean sheet or goals.
Broad Ford wrote: ↑Wed Jul 12, 2023 6:07 pmI didn't see any of the game due to the Mrs dragging me on a 4 day slog around the shops. Thanks for the comments on the game. It gives me a better idea how the team is developing.
It's early doors and the squad isn't up to full strength, pace, as well as gelling to Farkes system and tactics.
After our first friendly outing a knee jerk reaction isn't the way one supports a team developing to life in the championship. Patience is required as Farke takes control of things on the pitch as the new owners slowly reveal their true intentions of whether they want Leeds at the top, or just the potential income generated by LUAFC.
I still think that the two most crucial new additions should be a creative MF and a striker. A holding MF might well be needed if the defence isn't watertight, but at the moment creativity is a concern. This year is all about consolidation and squad development, whereas next season I expect a determined challenge for promotion.
I can’t imagine much worse than that

She knows the score. I've now earned a trip to Ilkley moor where I get some peace n quiet amongst the stones.
As a kid, with friends I used to cycle from Armley going down Otley Chevin & onto Ilkley Moor.

I agree with this assessment. Also agree with much of DF's perspective in the post-match.
One foot in front of the other for now. Just keep moving forward.

Easier said than done, there wouldn’t be many, if any, takers for some…….even if they were offered on a freebie
losing 2 0 to basically man utd kids is as bad as it gets in my book we had players out there who are going to be playing next season in the first team we are way short in every department of the team it would have been double figures had man utd put their first team out. the defending is abysmal midfield non existent and the strike force simply clueless without major Investment in this squad this club are going to be languishing in the championship for years to come

Kenny you have this self delusional mantra that you prophesied all our current problems. Agreed you called Orta out early on here when MB was sacked, but he was your fall guy.
Now your posts are like the musings of a jilted lover who spends his days pissed down the local boozer repetitively ranting, with an odd lucid moment.
Crack on telling me my posts are boring and you never read them etc
