But what about that Rodon miss? Reminiscent of an open goal Bamford missed not long ago
Wasn't good.

Really pleased with that as a whole. Was worried having seen the score before the game that we struggled to win an easy winner. But upon watching, the win was never in doubt. We handled it all well. And the fact they were in it at all was down to one brief moment.

Darlow solid again, Made one really emphatic catch from a cross. I loved that punch even though it was called for a handball outside the box. It just showed his dominance in (and around) his area.

Defence was terrific. Rodon especially was dominant everywhere. I think Strujik is a better defender than Ampadu. But I really think Ampadu makes Rodon a better player.

Bogle was brilliant. Decent defender. But he's probably the best attacking right back in the league.

Gruev and Tanaka both solid if unspectacular. Same for Aaronson. Tanaka not standing out as much in the past month or so. But he's still getting the job done.

Solomon was great. Interesting that without James, a higher percentage of our play went down the left. Willy had a decent game but did miss a bit of a sitter too.

Piroe could have had a hat trick and certainly should have had one or two. But his all round game was good and pleasing to see today.

We did get Strachan and Giles though

I would say that Giles was probably the best Player ever for United he was not only a goal scorer at times but was the engine of the team. his immaculate passing, tackling and controlling the midfield he was the governor. Billy B, Hunter, Peter Lorimer all were great and Giles seemed to bring out the best in them.

On Goole or You Tube there is an interview with Eddie Gray about Giles that really tells the story just what he brought to the team

Love our present team but wish we had a few of them playing with us now.

Bremner & Giles, our two best players from the Revie-era, two of the greatest ever!

Only John Charles comparable to their greatness.

There's an article in one of the tabloids today by Souness. He named the 10 greatest midfield players that he ever played against during his career. Bremner and Giles are both in there.

He wrote ; " Johnny was the most magnificent technician who, like all the greats, always had space and time to operate and, boy, could he deliver. "

The other 8 players in his list were ; Alan Ball, Liam Brady, Glenn Hoddle, Bryan Robson, Zico, Michel Platini, Jean Tigana and Paul Breitner.
