I hope he isn't going to be our "big" signing, as we need a playmaker

He can't start in the Prem yet, but he'll warm the bench until he proves his worth.Barlow Boy wrote: ↑Tue Jun 23, 2026 2:11 pm Let’s say he signs, and goes straight into the first X1, who’s position does he take?

We can't be spending this kind of money on bench warmers, they need to be better than what we have.Musicman1965 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 25, 2026 6:42 pm He can't start in the Prem yet, but he'll warm the bench until he proves his worth.

He would have started in the Premier League had Southampton got promoted.Musicman1965 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 25, 2026 6:42 pm He can't start in the Prem yet, but he'll warm the bench until he proves his worth.

We had a few "championship players" start in the prem this year. Ampadu springs to mind, Tanaka, Rodon, Gruev too

I think it depends on the set upMusicman1965 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 25, 2026 6:42 pm He can't start in the Prem yet, but he'll warm the bench until he proves his worth.
I'd like to see us transition to a more attacking 4-2-3-1. That would put him behind Ampadu and Stach in the two DM roles.
But if we play 3 deep midfielders as we often did last season, I could certainly see him starting as the 3rd midfielder

I don't think Southampton's form has anything to do with Charles' ability..

If we get Brandt maybe stach could play along side amps in a 4 2 31 against the weaker sides 'i reckon saints will want a lot more than we offered for Charles.

Wonder if Soton have to sell before the end of June to comply with PSR for the last 3 seasons.

It’s a lot of money for us. Chump change for established clubs of corse.
