A player that struggled in the championship and didn't pull up any trees in Spain. He has talent but I could show you thousands of players at Sunday league level that have talent and never made it. He might go on to be a great player, some do, but I would be doubtful. Likely have a decent career but a rung down from top tier.

Well we need to find out, he’s 22 now so if it’s going to happen for him let’s hope it’s with us and soon. To be honest he was young and raw in the Championship and so I’d tend to ignore that. His attributes point to a successful future at a very high level.weasel wrote: ↑Wed Sep 02, 2026 2:58 pm A player that struggled in the championship and didn't pull up any trees in Spain. Big fan of Joseph but he's done here imo and it's a long road back for him. I don't see him playing anywhere this season and he'd do best to start again somewhere else in 27/28.

Not sure his attributes suggest anything special. Reasonably quick but not rapid, reasonably tall, but only around 6ft, no real signs of being a good hold up, link the play, striker. So far all he has really done is impressed against players of his age.Jammy 07 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 02, 2026 3:22 pm Well we need to find out, he’s 22 now so if it’s going to happen for him let’s hope it’s with us and soon. The sort of player if you were playing footy manager games and looking at the attributes you'd not really go for

It wouldn’t surprise me if Okafor suddenly discovers additional reserves of energy and might even finish the odd game.weasel wrote: ↑Wed Sep 02, 2026 12:05 pm Possibly a case of him being a player high up on our list if we needed a player in that position. If, as you suggest, Farke wasn't keen it may simply be that Farke told them he was happy with his options and didn't feel that he'd be able to give this guys enough minutes to make it worthwhile signing him.
If you look at the left side then in signing Bahayo, as a project, we can likely give him 30 minutes or so every match as a sub for Okafor.
Who knows, he might put in a defensive tackle some week.

Re: Summer transfer gossip and squad discussion
My feeling with the Okafor situation is that it is a way of us managing him given his injury record and that because he relies on his explosive speed it may be that after 60-65 minutes he is entering the 'red zone' in terms of being more likely to pick up a muscle injury. Admittedly he does usually look knackered but I think that is also because he is built more for sprinting than marathon running.Carrick Dave wrote: ↑Wed Sep 02, 2026 6:48 pm It wouldn’t surprise me if Okafor suddenly discovers additional reserves of energy and might even finish the odd game.

Possibly - but I do not see it unless we have an injury disaster, and we have Cairns as first choice keeper

Another totally overrated LUFC young footballer.weasel wrote: ↑Wed Sep 02, 2026 2:58 pm A player that struggled in the championship and didn't pull up any trees in Spain. Re: Summer transfer gossip and squad discussion
Maybe so but not many of our overrated youngsters have been able to hold down a regular position in La Liga. In fact Joseph made 29 appearances for Mallorca before his season ending injury in training just after the 2-1 victory against Real Madrid where he started and was credited with an assist.
Ultimately Mallorca were very unfortunate to be relegated on 42 points which hasn't happened in Spain since 2010/11 and it's possible his absence for the final 8 matches was a factor as 43 points would have kept them up.

Net Spend we were 11th in the PL spending £62m.
Ipswich were 2nd spending £190m.
Coventry were 5th spending £130m.
Hull were 8th spending £104m.
Hopefully the doubts that were expressed previously about our recruitment team have now been put to bed.

Depends if the Struijk sale was last season (it was) as pointed out by Carrick
I'm still not convinced by the recruitment team... but we probably have different ideas about team building long term

Yes good point about the Struijk money. The Subhuman wrote: ↑Thu Sep 03, 2026 11:13 am Depends if the Struijk sale was last season (it was) as pointed out by Carrick
