A top striker like Shearer, Viduka, Allan Clarke, Haaland, etc, buries that and the goalie doesn't get the chance too make a save.
If DCL imagines himself as an international striker he needs to be scoring those types of chances. I hope we're not gonna be applauding DCL for getting a shot on target from 6 yards out, as we did with Bamford.
Never confuse intellect with imagination.
Never let good taste stand in the way of style ~ big nosed Pseudo intellectual, sarky super hero, weirdly obsessed idiot stalker, boring smarmy w*nker, worst pollster, far right dimwit, and resident perspicacious comedian...OR IS HE

I agree that Stach and Tanaka were completely ineffective today. But I do think Aaronson brought a little spark later that had been missing from the rest (bar Okafor)
Thought Aaronson was poor when he came on. He was largely ineffective and pushed off the ball a few times

Poor finish for me Leon.

I was not able to watch the game live this morning. But I just finished watching it "on demand". It was a very evenly played game. The statistics were remarkably similar. And honestly, I thought it was a just result for both sides. I like that Farke has us back playing in the base 3-5-2 formation. I think it works better for us than a 3-4-2-1. We could have nicked it with a bit more quality from DCL.
I wasn't surprised to see Aaronson subbed on. But he was absolutely useless again! What the hell has happened to his pre-season form? Dan James wasn't much better. The bright spot came for me when Bahoya got his debut. He looked good in the couple minutes he played! We need to see much more of him going forward.
All in all it was a positive result going into the international break. We are still one of only five teams in the Premier League without a loss. I'll take it...
We seldom made a pass to a player moving forward, too many safe lateral or reverse passes. Our midfield was slow and surrendered too mamy 50/50s to Palace.
We didn't mark them tight enough, no creativity, too many passes to the wing instead of down the middle which is what Palace did to hurt us, Calvert-Lewin on his own & isolated.
We were abysmal except for 3 or 4 great defensive tackles and some good saves by Trafford. Midfield was pretty poor, Wharton dictated play for the majority of the 90 minutes. We looked pretty passive.
Unbeaten is a great start but we looked like the side who had played a European game very leggy and slow.

Unusually I completely agree with you.
I could’ve scored that whilst taming a lion and also making love to a beautiful woman.
I'm very pleased you got those the right way around.
We are 5th in the Premier League on the same amount of points as the in-form Brentford, Liverpool, Everton & only one point behind the impressive Brighton.

He makes good saves! Which at the end of the day is what he's really getting paid for. BUT, his distribution looks suspect to me. And the young man can't play the ball with his feet. Those things need to improve. Or have I completely lost my mind?

Was always going to be bullied by this lot.
Pointless substituion.
Didn’t think he was as bad as James, who I thought was truly worthless. Thought Aaronson actually got stuck in and made some things happen…better performance than his previous performances for me. Still however only deserves a rating of a 6, FWIW.

I don’t think you have - not in relation to JT at any rate! The two concerns you raise are valid, however because ER was relatively quiet yesterday in parts you could hear him barking out direction orders to his defence and midfield. He’s defo an improvement on what we had. Not much in the outfield went right yesterday, it was a blip, not a lack of talent, on other days I’ve seen him give excellent distribution.

For me both were introduced to up our intensity. I thought BA was poor yesterday, not because of a lack of endeavour, he has one of the best engines in this league. It was more about allowing the frenetic nature of the game cloud his decision making in possession. He rarely puts his foot on the ball and allow himself play it simple - he generally tries to play on the front foot, which is great but yesterdays game was about picking the right moments as we were under the cosh.
DJ is not dissimilar in this regard. It was a tough game to join from a sub perspective, a baptism of fire to some degree - it is not easy to make an impact without the team having some level of control.

Spot on. It was like he wanted to create something magical every time the ball came near him. I don’t think I once saw him try to take the sting out of the game - it’s not in his DNA.
